Louisbourg, Nova Scotia, Canada

August 2005

One of our day trips was through Sydney and over to Louisbourg, a picturesque little seacoast village.  There we found another Canadian Historic Site, the Fortress of Louisbourg.  After seeing the Citadel in Halifax, Terry was not overly enthused about walking through another fort, but was very glad that she did.  The Citadel was a British fort.  The Fortress of Louisbourg was a vibrant 18th century French community during the Franco-British struggle for North America from 1713 to 1768.  Entering the fort meant stepping back in time to 1755, complete with costumed inhabitants.
