Renton, Washington

2002

Gerry mentioned that he wanted to make reservations on the Spirit of Washington dinner train out of Renton, Washington when we left the Gorge.  Since Jim and Lee were also headed in that direction, they decided to join us.  On August 1st, 2002 we drove to Lake Sawyer Sunrise Resort, another Coast to Coast park where we could only stay three days.  After setting up the rigs, we headed in one car for the train depot in Renton.  The train glides along the east shore of Lake Washington with the Olympic Mountains, the Seattle skyline and Mount Rainier as a backdrop.   A scrumptious meal (our choice - the salmon) was served to us in a vista dome car on the way to Woodinville's Columbia Winery.  We visited the cellar, sampled some wines and purchased a bottle or two before returning to the train where dessert was served on the trip back.
